NOC SLO

The Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Association of Sports Federations (NOC SLO) is based on the understanding that sport is an important element of quality life in all its forms and environments and, as such, it is suitable for people of all ages. The vision and the mission of the NOC SLO depends on the operation of its members and founders.

MISSION 
To implement the mission of the umbrella sports and non-governmental organisation on the national and global level and ensure development and growth in cooperation with the related sports organisations.  To take care of harmonious development of all types of sport, operation of sports organisations, enable competitiveness of Slovenian athletes at international competitions and, by taking into account the values, become a model for a successful National Olympic Committee.

VISION
With professional work and business excellence, act as a key factor in further design and development of sports in Slovenia, thus becoming a model for a successful National Olympic Committee in the world.

VALUES
The basic mission of the NOC SLO is going to be implemented by taking into consideration the history of organisation of Slovenian sports and Olympism, as well as the following values:
1. 'Fair Play
In the world of sports, fair play is an exceptionally important value. Fair play means being fair, respecting the rules and people, tolerance and equality. Fair play applies to the athletes, trainers, sports workers and sports organisations. It presents consistent enactment of zero tolerance for taking or using prohibited substances or means.
2. Excellence
By taking into account the value of excellence, the NOC SLO endeavours to operate at the highest possible level in all fields, both in terms of operations and ensuring development of all segments of sports. The NOC SLO will strive for ongoing development of human resources and exchange of knowledge, professional execution of tasks, dynamism and responsiveness to initiatives and proposals.
3. Solidarity
The NOC SLO is an umbrella sports and non-governmental organisation in Slovenia which has to carry out its tasks and mission within a partnership and in cooperation with all subjects in the Slovene sports, but especially its members and in partnerships outside Slovenia. It has to encourage cooperation and social responsibility on all levels. It has to provide support to the athletes and sports organisations and ensure equal conditions for operation and development.
4. Healthy Lifestyle
From the sports perspective, to live in a healthy way and spend free time in a quality manner means participating in sports activities, regular exercise and attending sports events. A healthy lifestyle keeps individuals (and society) vital and able to work. It reduces health risks and is a value which is important for the widest sphere of population. It ensures holistic personal growth and, consequently, a more high-quality life.
5. Tradition
Sports and Olympism have a rich tradition, which is why the NOC SLO is maintaining these rules, organisation and history. The development of sport is a long-term procedure – in order to achieve good results, one has to develop appropriate organisation and human resources, as well as work conditions and harmonious development of the athletes. Sports and Olympism therefore cannot be subjected to the interests of individuals, small groups, political decisions and changes which do not strive for progress and development.
6. Sustainable Development and Taking Care of the Environment
Part of sustainable development is related to the basic mission of Olympism and the Olympic Charter, which is why the NOC SLO operates to ensure long-term promotion of Olympism, its values and the history of sport, which has substantially contributed to the development of sports, educational, cultural and many other fields around the entire world. In addition, the NOC SLO strives for the development of society, local communities and Slovenian products, whilst taking into consideration the principles of sustainable development and the code on environmental protection. When carrying out activities and events, it appropriately handles all of the elements required for environmental protection and nature conservation.
7. Volunteering
The operation of the Slovenian sports organisations is based on voluntary work. Volunteering is seen as a value which enables the operation of the NOC SLO, inclusion of representatives of sports organisations into the Assembly, Executive Committee and other committees and commissions with the umbrella sports organisation. In addition to the highly developed business part of the organisation and qualified employees, volunteering represents the basis for long-term development for the greatest benefit of the Slovenian sports.
